Alluring Features of the 2022 GMC Terrain Model Series

Among all those compact crossover SUV models, that have gained popularity for their strength and reliability, the GMC Terrain secures a prominent place. Refreshed for the 2022 model year release, this compact SUV model from GMC has received some changes that deserve a mention.

As announced by the GMC dealership near Salinas, the 2022 model year lineup of the GMC Terrain series discontinues the earlier SL trim that was the base form of this SUV series. So becomes the fate of the optional 2.0L turbocharged Inline-4 engine. On the positive side, the 2022 GMC Terrain models see a new front and rear fascia; two new paint options are now there for the exterior. Apart from these, a new design pattern for the wheels and new trims and fabrics replace the earlier ones in the interior cabins. The 2022 model year edition of the GMC terrain also upgrades its infotainment system that now enables the wireless usage of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. On the other hand, the SLT trim models get a new Tech Package, while the lineup welcomes an all-new AT4 trim model.

The interior cabins of the 2022 GMC Terrain models receive new creature comfort features like heated power-adjustable seats on the SLT trim, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, an updated infotainment system that now comes with wireless connectivity. The rest of the changes are implemented on the safety side, where new features are added to the Pro Safety suite of GMC assuring higher safety as standard equipment.

Powertrain Features

The 2022 model year edition of the GMC Terrain series offers two trim levels that are continued from the 2021 model year edition, the SLE and SLT. As mentioned earlier, the SL trim takes a back seat for the 2022 model year making way for the new AT4 and Denali trim models.

Coming to the powertrain lineup of the 2022 GMC Terrain compact SUV series, we see a 1.5L turbocharged inline-4 engine at the lower front where the engine power reaches the front wheels following the standard configuration. However, GMC keeps the AWD drivetrain as an optional upgrade for those who are ready to pay that extra price.

Feature Packages

The 2022 GMC Terrain offers enormous options to customize your model. It allows a good number of feature options, in terms of accessories, in a handful of feature and trim packages, like the Hit the road package, Convenience package, infotainment package I and II that fits in different sets of features on the SLE and SLT trims, respectively. Lastly, the 2022 GMC Terrain models also get the option to be equipped with the Pro Safety Plus package that safeguards the occupants with a bunch of inter-related advanced driver-assist features.

The 2022 GMC Terrain series engage a sole engine option, which is a 1.5L turbocharged inline 4 engine that powers all the trim levels with 170 hp and 203 lb-ft. of torque. Unfortunately, the 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 engine does not make it this year and leaves the buyers with the standard powertrain that includes a 9-speed automatic transmission to pair the engine, explained the Watsonville GMC dealer.
